Your greatest adventure starts on page 1.in the adventure capital of the world
4 days in Queenstown with 5 fellow writers. Everyone else in town is jumping off something. You’re jumping into your book. (Braver, honestly.) Leave knowing exactly what it is, who it’s for and how it holds together, with the opening written.

The straight answer
Createcation Queenstown runs November 11-14, 2027 in Queenstown, New Zealand: a 4-day, all-inclusive book writing retreat capped at 6 writers, led by 4x NYT bestselling ghostwriter & book coach Crystal Adair-Benning. Blank page or stalled draft, you leave with your book validated, structured and started, plus a plan to finish. It’s $7,500 USD, or $15,000 USD with 12 × 60-minute 1:1 coaching sessions after the retreat. Applications close October 14th, 2027.
You, at every dinner partysince forever.
The chapter 3 you’ve rewritten 11 times. The notes app full of genius you can’t find. The Sunday afternoons that keep getting eaten by... Sunday. Focus is the thing you’re short of, and your kitchen table was never going to give you any.
I’m Crystal.Nobody leaves without a plan.
4x NYT bestselling ghostwriter & book coach. 30 years, 200+ authors, 12 countries.
Stuck books are almost always stuck in the same 4 places. Nobody leaves my room until all 4 are sorted:
3 steps.No harness required.
Apply by October 14th
Tell me what you’re writing. I read every application myself.
Land November 11th
Your own room, every meal, zero dishes.
Leave the 14th
With a book that has a reader, a spine and a first chapter.
4 days, and none of them wasted.
Thursday · Arrival
Land, dinner, and the big “so what’s your book actually about?” conversation.
Friday · The foundations
Foundations by morning. Writing and your first 1:1 with me by afternoon.
Saturday · The deep end
Long writing blocks and 1:1s on your actual pages. Word counts get silly.
Sunday · The summit
Launch, marketing and your finish plan. Lunch. Hugs. Airport.

Mountains on every side. The scariest bit is still chapter 1.
People fly in from everywhere to throw themselves off bridges here. You get the same mountains, the same lake, the same “holy sh*t, look at that” every time you glance up from the page. Minus the screaming. (Mostly.)
The venue
Handpicked, and revealed to accepted applicants 4 weeks out. I choose it myself and I do not choose it from a website.
Your own room
Your own bedroom, with shared bathrooms unless you are coming with a friend. Nobody writes well after a bad night on a sofa bed.
Every meal
All of them, built around any dietary needs you flag early. You will not spend a single writing block deciding where to eat.
What it has actually looked likein Queenstown.
Not a mood board. These are from a Createcation™ I’ve run right here. Yes, that’s a hot tub. Yes, you earn it.

Don’t take my word for it.Take theirs.
Amy and Avril, live from the last Queenstown Createcation™.
Blank page or half a draft? Both welcome.
The blank page
You get the build. Who it’s for, what it promises, how it holds together, and your first pages actually written.
The stalled draft
You get the rescue. What’s working, what’s quietly killing it, and how to get the thing moving again.
Same room. Very different afternoons.
2 ways in.1 gets you to the end.
The 4 days get your book started properly. The full coaching or co-writing gets it finished.
The Full Experience: Createcation + Coaching
The 4 days, plus 12 × 60-min 1:1 coaching sessions after you land. You write every word. I ask the uncomfortable questions until it’s a manuscript worth printing.
Separately: $17,500. Together: $15,000. (That’s $2,500 back... call it your launch party fund.)
- Pay in full: x1 60-min pre-retreat strategy session PLUS x2 bonus 60-min coaching sessions during the writing process (14 coaching sessions in total)
- Or 3 instalments
Queenstown on its own
Your own room, every meal, all the training, and me.
- Pay in full: +1 pre-retreat 1:1
- Or 3 instalments
Small print: flights are on you. (I’d carry you if I could.)
What the method actually did.
Airport. A flat white you didn’t make.A book with a spine.
A reader, a structure and a chapter 1. Next time someone asks how it’s going... you want them to ask.
The one thingyou book yourself.
Travel is not included, so here is what to know before you book flights.
Flying in
Queenstown Airport (ZQN) is about 15 minutes from town, with direct flights from Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington and Australia’s east coast. Coming from North America? Connect through Auckland. And yes, the landing is half the adventure.
Timing your flights
Arrive Thursday afternoon or evening for dinner that night. The retreat wraps after lunch on Sunday, so book a Sunday evening flight or stay over and fly Monday. A Sunday morning flight means missing the part that makes the rest of it worth it.
Entry and insurance
New Zealand’s entry requirements depend on your passport, and most visitors need an NZeTA before they fly, so check well before booking. Your deposit is locked in the moment you book, so travel insurance is worth having for both your flights and your spot.
The questionsI get every time.
Who is in the room?
5 other writers and me. Some arrive with a blank page, some with a stalled draft. Nobody waits for anybody, because your 1:1 time is built around your book.
What if my draft is a mess?
Then you’re in exactly the right room. A messy draft is material. (So is no draft. Bring whatever you’ve got.)
What’s included in the $7,500?
Accommodation, every meal, all the teaching, your 1:1 coaching sessions and the closing dinner. Flights and travel to Queenstown are yours.
Do I need to be a good writer?
No. You need a book you can’t stop thinking about and a willingness to be told the truth about it.
When do I find out where it is?
4 weeks out, once you are accepted. The venue is handpicked and it is not somewhere you could have booked yourself.
What happens after the 4 days?
You leave with pages and a launch plan. Sunday is entirely about what it takes to get the book out and sell it. Pick the Full Experience and the next 12 coaching sessions take it all the way to a finished manuscript.
Why only 6 people?
Because 1:1 coaching on an actual manuscript does not scale. At 12 it becomes a workshop, and workshops are where books go to stall.
How do I pay?
Pay in full or in 3 instalments, for either membership. Pay in full for the 4 days and you get +1 pre-retreat 1:1. Pay in full for the Full Experience and you get x1 60-min pre-retreat strategy session PLUS x2 bonus 60-min coaching sessions during the writing process.
6 seats.Doors shut October 14th.
Tell me what you’re writing and I’ll tell you straight if this is your room.
Or there’s always next year. (There’s always next year.)
Do you want to join me?
