There are 3 ways to do this. This is the middle one.
On one side, ghostwriting, where you talk and I disappear for 90 days and hand you a finished book. That works, and it is most of what I do. On the other side, coaching, where you write every word and I keep you honest.
Co-writing is the one in between, and it is the one people are most surprised exists.

You have the material
30 years of lived, learned, hard-won expertise that you have been giving away in keynotes, on podcasts, and in voice memos at 11pm that you never transcribed.
You have tried to write it
There is a document. It has been opened 11 times this year. You are not starting from nothing, which is exactly why co-writing works for you and ghostwriting might feel like a waste.
You want your fingerprints on it
Ghostwriting genuinely bothers you. I respect that, and I would still argue with you about it. If your hands have to be on the sentences, this is your room.
You are ready this year
As in, you would start in January. Not next year, not after the rebrand, not once the kids are back at school. I take 4 of these and the calendar is the constraint, so wanting to and being ready are 2 different conversations.

What is co-writing, and how is it different from ghostwriting?
In ghostwriting, you talk and I write the whole book. In co-writing, you draft and I shape, cut, restructure and rewrite it with you. Your name goes on the cover either way and mine goes nowhere either way. The difference is that in co-writing you are in the room for all of it. Ghostwriting is $60,000 USD. Co-writing is $30,000 USD.
How much does co-writing cost?

How many co-writing clients do you take?
4 a year. That is the whole calendar, and it is arithmetic rather than scarcity marketing. Shaping somebody else’s draft properly takes hundreds of hours.
Do I need to be a good writer?
No. You need to have something worth saying and a willingness to be told the truth about the first version. Most of my co-writing clients are excellent at their field and average at prose, which is exactly the right combination for this.
How much writing do I actually have to do?
You write the drafts. I structure, rewrite and edit. How much of the final text is your original prose varies enormously by client, and by the end most people cannot tell which sentences started where, including them.
Whose name goes on the cover?
Yours, alone. I take no credit line, no "with" byline, nothing. That is standard for every service I offer.
How long does a co-written book take?
90 days, and it depends on you, which is the main difference from ghostwriting. When you draft quickly it moves quickly. When life gets in the way, it waits.
What if I already have a full manuscript?
Then bring it. Co-writing is often the right answer for a finished draft that is not working, and validation in stage 1 will tell you fast whether it is a structural problem or a sentence-level one.
Do you work with clients outside Canada?
Yes. I am on Vancouver Island and my clients are across the USA, UK, Australia, New Zealand and Europe. Everything runs over video.
What if I am not sure whether I want co-writing or ghostwriting?
