What Is The Word Magic Method — And How Does It Work?

Every ghostwriter and book coach has a process. Most of them look something like this: talk about your ideas, outline a structure, start writing, revise, publish.

That process produces books. It does not reliably produce books that change things.

The Word Magic Method™ was built from thirty years of learning what actually works — why some books become genuine career-defining assets while others, despite being beautifully written, disappear quietly into the world without leaving a mark.

The difference is almost never the writing. It’s almost always what happens before the writing begins.

The Philosophy Behind The Method

The single most important insight I’ve developed across hundreds of books and four New York Times bestselling collaborations is this:

The WHAT to write doesn’t happen before the WHY are we writing this?

Most people approach a book with a subject. I’m going to write about leadership. About my journey. About the framework I’ve developed. About overcoming adversity and building something remarkable.

These are subjects. They’re not books.

A book has a reader. A book has a job. A book knows what it wants to do in the world and builds every chapter, every story, every argument in service of that goal.

The Word Magic Method begins where most processes skip: with the strategic foundation that makes everything else possible.

The Five Phases

Phase 1: Book Validation

We find the book you didn’t know you had. Then we prove it’s the one the world needs.

This phase is the most important and the most underestimated. Before a single word is written, we identify the specific book that lives at the intersection of your deepest wisdom, your ideal reader’s most urgent need, and your publishing and business goals.

Book Validation answers the questions most authors never ask: Is this the right book, or the obvious book? Who is this actually for? What does it need to do for your business? Which publishing path — traditional, hybrid, or self-publishing — serves your timeline and goals?

Get Book Validation right and the rest of the project has a clarity and momentum that makes even the hard chapters feel manageable. Get it wrong — or skip it — and you risk spending eighteen months writing a book that doesn’t do what you need it to do.

Phase 2: Storytelling Framework

This is where your scattered brilliance becomes a book worth writing — story, strategy, and structure finally aligned.

In this phase, we build the architecture of your book. Not just a chapter outline — a strategic framework that determines what goes where, why, and in what sequence. We identify your central thesis, the narrative arc that holds everything together, and the structural decisions that will determine how your reader experiences the book.

This phase is where many authors have their first real glimpse of what their book is. Clients often describe it as the moment the chaos became a story.

Phase 3: Goldmines and Story Time

Sharing the hidden secrets and ‘so you’ stories that only you can tell.

This is one of the most joyful parts of the process — and one of the most important. In structured sessions, we mine your lived experience for the specific stories, examples, anecdotes, and insights that will make your book unmistakably yours.

Every extraordinary book is built on stories that could only have come from one specific human. These are the goldmines — the moments you mention in passing that turn out to anchor an entire chapter. The off-script revelations that become the beating heart of the book.

Finding them is a skill. Most authors don’t know which stories are their goldmines until someone helps them see it.

Phase 4: Write On!

Freedom from the stories you’ve held, walked and lived. Weekly sessions that turn blank pages into bestsellers, stuck into spectacular, and doubt into done.

This is where the book gets written — collaboratively, in weekly sessions that keep momentum alive and quality high. Depending on whether you’re working with me as a book coach, co-writer, or ghostwriter, this phase looks different. But the goal is the same: a first draft that captures your voice, your wisdom, and the strategic foundation we’ve built — and that you genuinely love.

Nobody leaves Phase 4 with a manuscript they don’t recognise as themselves.

Phase 5: The Reveal

Magic. The kind that glitters and glows with a ‘how did they do that?’ and killer applause track. Editors, publishers, agents, marketing, launch strategy — you never leave empty handed.

The Reveal is where the manuscript becomes a book — and the book becomes a strategy. We work through editorial refinement, publishing decisions, and launch planning. I connect clients with the editors, publishers, agents, and marketing professionals they need. We build the launch strategy that gets the book into the hands of the readers who need it.

Nobody finishes The Word Magic Method with a manuscript gathering dust on a hard drive. The whole point is what happens when the book is in the world.

Who The Word Magic Method Is For

The Word Magic Method is built for Storykeepers — badass humans carrying decades of lived and earned wisdom in business and life who haven’t yet found the right structure, support, or strategy to unleash it into the world.

Founders, executives, coaches, leaders, experts, rebels, healers, and the quietly extraordinary humans who know their story has value but haven’t yet found their way to the page.

If that’s you — this method was built for you specifically.

This is one of the most common questions I get — and it deserves a cleaner answer than most people give it. A book coach and a ghostwriter do genuinely different things. The right choice depends not on preference or budget alone, but on a specific set of questions about your goals, your timeline, your existing writing capacity, and what you want your relationship with the finished book to feel like. Here's the framework I use with every prospective client before we ever discuss working together.
The range is genuinely enormous — from $500 on Fiverr to $200,000 from top-tier literary ghostwriters — and most of what you'll find online makes it more confusing, not less. But ghostwriting pricing isn't arbitrary. It follows a logic. And once you understand that logic, the decision becomes a lot clearer. Here's a plain-English breakdown of every price tier, what you actually get at each level, and the question that matters far more than the price tag.

You’ve told more people about this book than you’ve written pages of it.

These are the 3 questions I ask before I agree to write anyone’s book. The authors who can answer them finish. The ones who can’t spend 2 years writing the wrong book for a reader who was never going to turn up.

Four minutes, and you’ll know who yours is for, what it does for them, and the thing you know so well you’ve stopped noticing nobody else does.

The newsletter is publishing, what I’m actually working on, and the bits nobody says out loud. No six-part win-back sequence if you leave.
